Seneca On Grief for Lost Friends

Join Judith Stove, Simon Drew & friends in conversation around Seneca’s letter LXIII. On Grief for Lost Friends.

The format of these Soul Searching with Seneca meetups is simple: we read the text, and we discuss the thoughts, ideas, and lessons that come to us as we do so.

We’re fortunate to be joined by Judith Stove in each session. Judith is an expert (though she’ll never admit it) on classical Latin and Greek, so come with all of your questions about the translation of Seneca’s writings!

To read the letter, you can use the Richard M. Gummere translation via WikiSource: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Moral_letters_to_Lucilius/Letter_63
