I Come Running
Each night thou callest,
And to Thee I come running.
To me Thou offereth eternal life,
And I accept Thine offering,
And I receive it well.
Thou lifted me to heights
I could never have dreamed of,
And there I sat with Thee under
The ancient Tree,
And there we communed,
And there we wept as the Sun
Slowly sank behind the silhouette
Of the distant hills.
As the darkness entered,
We whistled at the Moon
And whispered to the stars,
And the moon and stars whispered back,
And they sang soft hymns of lament,
And even hymns of praise.
Through the darkest hours we cried out to God
In hopes of His coming light.
We know that where the branches grow, God dwells,
And so we climb to the highest branch
And reach our hands to touch the stars,
Even that we may know God,
And even that we may once more
Be warmed by the light of His Sun.
Watch and see;
Bright light I’ll shine
Upon the land and
In thy mind.
Sit and feel
My warmth embark
On a cosmic journey
Into thy heart.
Listen and hear
My heav’nly choir,
Whose song will lift
Thy soul yet higher.
Welcome home,
My wayward Son,
Now rise, and shine;
Thy day’s begun.
