A Message from Tomorrow.
These are the hymns and cliff notes of a mystic’s journey, an essence of a message whose time is upon us now.
The poems in Keeper of the Flame, bring the reader along a journey to the rare insights mysticism yields about the World, about Life and how we navigate our sense of meaning and existential survival; A work rich in deep archetypal metaphor, and devoid of airy and diaphanous flotsam which we can sometimes associate with mysticism and spirituality.

Rocco Jarman has pressed into service, the English Language, in a way that opens a window onto the beautiful, often challenging account of seeking and discovery which defines the essence of Mysticism. The poems reflect a nuanced understanding of the human psyche that is both troubling and stirringly beautiful, ringing through at times with a sober sense of foreboding, a strident critique of apathy, but also a powerfully rousing inspiration and encouragement. The work is in equal measure both a bitter medicine and source of deep nourishment to the soul without insult to the intellect.
Keeper of the Flame is steeped in Language, leveraged to powerfully invoke Understanding and emotion, and eloquently crafted, in rhythm and style.

AN EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK
i climbed up
and reached for you,
i wandered long, and alone,
through the dark,
i called you by your many names,
but your house lay empty,
the weathered door,
hanging loose upon its hinges
and a note beside the unkept way read:
“let mine be the hand
that reaches down.
let mine be the lamp
that lights the Way.”
