Philosophical Mentoring Terms & Conditions

This Agreement states the terms and conditions that govern the contractual agreement between the “Philosophical Mentor,” being a contracted Philosophical Mentor within The Walled Garden Philosophical Society, LLC (the “Organisation”), and the “Mentee” (the person purchasing any philosophical mentoring service on thewalledgarden.com) who agrees to be bound by this Agreement.

1. Purpose

This agreement will be used to enable the Mentee and the Philosophical Mentor to determine and agree on how the philosophical mentoring process will proceed, and it will provide a guide to expected outcomes. This agreement outlines the respective contributions of both the Mentee and the Philosophical Mentor, the process, expected outcomes and arrangements for any variation in the process.

2. Relationship

This agreement is not between the Mentee and the Organisation, and thus, all liability is waived from the Organisation as it relates to the processes, methods, confidentiality, or outcomes of the mentoring relationship between the Mentee and the Philosophical Mentor.

3. Responsibilities

THE MENTEE

The Mentee in this mentoring process will make every effort to ensure the initiative is a success by:

  • giving priority to appointments with the Philosophical Mentor as agreed in the negotiated schedule;

  • completing any tasks appropriately agreed upon within and outside sessions;

  • being engaged and open in any agreed process that will contribute to their development;

  • being willing to use relevant philosophical tools and principles to help guide further insights into their development;

  • share information that may assist with the development process;
  • providing input to any evaluation of the effectiveness of the process.

THE PHILOSOPHICAL MENTOR

The Philosophical Mentor will:

  • meet with the Mentee to establish the focus and structure for ongoing mentoring;
  • engage openly with the Mentee and offer honest and reasonable perspectives based on the life experience of the Mentee;
  • liaise with the Mentee outside of appointments via email when necessary;
  • provide an appropriate degree of confidentiality for the Mentee throughout the philosophical mentoring exercise.
  • provide notes for each appointment as a record of outcomes.

4. Sessions

The Philosophical Mentor and Mentee will agree upon the duration of the mentoring relationship, and will arrange sessions and times that suit the individual needs of the Mentee as well as the time constraints of the Philosophical Mentor and Mentee.

The length of each session will be 60-90 minutes unless otherwise agreed between the Mentee and Philosophical Mentor.

5. Objectives

The objectives for this mentoring relationship between the Philosophical Mentor and Mentee will be as follows:

  • To engage in philosophically orientated conversations that relate to the life of the Mentee.
  • To discuss philosophical and theological principles in a spirit of open dialogue and mutual discovery.
  • To seek common wisdom that can help the Mentee to live a more meaningful life.
  • To offer individual perspectives on how to engage meaningfully with various elements of life, including (but not limited to): relationships, family, community, health and fitness, spirituality/religious convictions, career and personal pursuits.
  • To discuss and discover practical paths to a flourishing life.

7. Confidentiality

Throughout the duration of the mentoring relationship, conversations and outcomes will remain confidential between the Philosophical Mentor and Mentee. The Philosophical Mentor and Mentee relationship is to be founded on trust, with all personal information, ideas and objectives remaining between the two parties only.

Should the Philosophical Mentor wish to share an anecdote or example from the life of the Mentee, the Philosophical Mentor will not use names or personal details of the Mentee and will seek permission from the Mentee in writing via email prior to sharing such an anecdote or example.

8. Duration, Cancellation, & Modifications

This agreement remains valid over the course of the mentoring relationship between the Philosophical Mentor and the Mentee, and 6 months after their final session. The agreement may be terminated at any time by either the Philosophical Mentor or the Mentee with 14 days notice, and should be done so in writing. Any major modification of the above objectives will also require agreement between the parties; Mentee and Philosophical Mentor.

9. Fees & Duration

The Mentee agrees to pay the fee as stated in the checkout process.

Each appointment will run for approximately 60-90 minutes.

10. Modifications

No modification of this Agreement shall be valid unless in writing and agreed upon by both Parties.

11. Applicable Law
