Author, philosopher and public speaker Sharon Lebell will open the event and set the tone for what to expect from The Walled Garden Philosophical Society, San Francisco.
Poet, musician and philosopher Simon Drew will share the vision and mission of The Walled Garden Philosophical Society and comment on the profound symbolism that exists within the name and logo.
Artist and museum director Peter Samis will share his deepest epiphanies and lessons learned regarding the power and necessity of beauty for a life well-lived.
Simon Drew’s recent album, Pairidaēza Suite, was his first original album, as well as his first piano album. Now, he’ll deliver a musical prayer on piano with his unique improvisational style.
Sharon Lebell & Peter Sammis will have an open discussion on the virtue of reverence. What is reverence? Why is it important? How is it best practiced?
Ending the event, Simon will share aspirations for future events and outline ways that people can contribute and participate in the San Francisco chapter of The Walled Garden Philosophical Society.
Community-building and shared learning experiences are at the heart of our work as public philosophers. In The Walled Garden, I love bringing people together with the common aim of learning, growing, and communal meaning-making.
I’ve been interviewing brilliant philosophers, theologians, artists, and thought-leaders on my podcasts since 2017, and I’m now honoured to be able to bring interested fellow-seekers into these conversations with our Walled Garden events. No matter what stage you’re at on your own philosophical path, I’d welcome you to come along and share these profound learning experiences in our community.
