Welcome to The Raven’s Nest

Over the next few months, I am planning a series of events to discuss the poem Voulspa, the Prophecy of the Seeress. It is one of the oldest recorded poems we have about the Old Norse world view, their story of the origin of the universe, the gods, and humanity. On November 10th, my plan is to discuss the first 20 verses of the poem with other Walled Garden contributors, and then open up a discussion to fans and listeners.

We can discuss the archetypes present in Norse Mythology, as well as what ever other mythologies the poem reminds you of or whatever personal meanings the poem brings up for you.

Voulspa is a story of Odin, the king of the gods, seeking out wisdom and knowledge from a powerful seeress in the underworld. She tells him about the past, the origin of the world, and the future, with the constant refrain: Are you sure you want to know more?
